KARI HOLMES

INTERN, DOCTORAL STUDENT

Kari is a third-year doctoral student at the University of St. Thomas and will spend this academic year as an intern doing assessments at Leaderwise. Having completed her master’s degree in counseling psychology at UST in 2021, Kari has happily developed professionally working as a pre-licensed therapist in private practice, employing a person-centered, cognitive behavioral approach. She believes that who we are and what we want to be is influenced by our collective experience and invites clients to explore both their past and present when addressing concerns and challenges. Kari completed her master’s level internship at University of Northwestern, St. Paul. 

Prior to returning to school to earn her doctorate, Kari spent 20 years with the YMCA-Twin Cities, employed as a nutritionist and personal trainer. In this role, she applied a holistic approach to working with individuals, in addition to creating curriculum and facilitating small groups dedicated to supporting healthy lifestyles and personal growth. For her doctoral dissertation Kari is exploring nutritional competency in mental health providers. 

In her free time Kari enjoys hiking, camping, gardening, riding her motorcycle, and getting together with friends and family.
